Sidney Lui elected to the Oceania Rugby Executive in a Niue first

Sidney Lui of Niue Rugby Union is one of the new members of the Oceania Rugby Executive Committee. In a first for Niue, Ms. Lui was elected as one of three other Pacific islanders on the new Board of Oceania Rugby at its 2021 Annual General Meeting held on the 6th December.

The President is Richard Sapias from PNG with elected general members Sidney Lui from Niue, Dr. Kieren Keke from Nauru and Aisea Aholelei from Tonga.

The other members of the Committee are Women’s Director Cathy Wong, Craig Meagher as an independent director, and Oceania Rugby General Manager Bruce Cook as ex officio and World Rugby Representative on the Committee.

The Executive Committee of Oceania Rugby also appointed Steve Lancaster from NZ as General member.

This Executive committee will serve Oceania Rugby until 2025.

At the same Annual general meeting, Oceania Rugby admitted Kiribati Rugby Union as Associate Member of Oceania Rugby.

There are three associate members of Oceania Rugby, Tahitinui Rugby Union, Wallis, and Futuna Rugby union, and Kiribati Rugby Union.

There are fourteen full members of Oceania Rugby, Australia, NZ, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu rugby unions.
