The Niue Government yesterday officially launched the Niue National Security Strategy 2025 -2029.
The strategy focuses on the safety and security of its people, the protection of its way of life, and its role in contributing to regional and global security efforts.
Prime Minister-Hon. Dalton Tagelagi said the action plan is a milestone for the nation, a four year plan for the people of Niue not only for today but the future when it comes to the safety, well being, the environment and our way of life.
Ross Arden of the Pacific Security College said the document was led by leaders and identified issues faced by Niue daily. His Project team provided support and technical assistance throughout the development of the Strategy.
This strategy also sets a benchmark on the Government’s approach to achieving its vision, with key regional and international frameworks, including the Boe Declaration on Regional Security, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
The Project was supported by various New Zealand Government agencies, in partnership with the Pacific Security College.
