Niue Lawn Bowls team members announced
Niue Lawn Bowls have officially announced their teams for the upcoming Asia Pacific and Pacific Games in June and July respectively this year.
Niue Lawn Bowls representative Catherine Papani revealed who the successful team members are for both teams.
Women’s team members are Pauline Rex-Blumsky, Lofa Rex, Joy Peyroux, Pilena Motufoou and Vika Liumaihetau.
Men’s team members are Stan Tafatu, Greg Funaki, Bill Vakaafi, Dalton Tagelagi and Mark Blumsky.
Asia Pacific is very competitive as it’s run by World Bowls. Cath says NZ and Australia are not competing at the Pacific Games but in the Asia Pacific Games.
She highlighted the significance of attending first to the Asia Pacific games in preparing for the Pacific Games furthermore developing Niue’s team growth and development especially exposure in the competitive field.
Most Pacific Island countries taking part in the Asia Pacific will also be present at the Pacific games. The biggest competitors will depend on the pool Niue is drawn in but Fiji and PNG pose to be great challengers, that aside, globally the top two countries are NZ and Australia.
