Premier Re-engages MAM’s until the end of the year 

Ahead of the public referendum scheduled for the 31st of August to vote on the four constitutional amendments including the bill to increase the members of the Cabinet by an additional 2 ministers, Premier Dalton Tagelagi and his Cabinet have re-engaged the Members assisting ministers (MAMs) until the end of the year.

Ahead of the public referendum scheduled for the 31st of August to vote on the four constitutional amendments including the bill to increase the members of the Cabinet by an additional 2 ministers, Premier Dalton Tagelagi and his Cabinet have re-engaged the Members assisting ministers (MAMs) until the end of the year.

Premier Tagelai told BCN News in an earlier interview that if the public supports the bill to increase the members of the Cabinet then the MAMs will no longer be and that the draft bills to repeal this provision from the Civil List Act are ready to be tabled pending the outcome of the referendum.

The re-engagement of the members assisting ministers came into effect on Monday this last week-August 12th and will end on the 31st of December this year, according to the government’s press release.

In an interview two weeks ago in an interview with BCN News Premier Dalton Tagelagi said that if the people support the constitutional amendment bill to increase the number of Cabinet from 4 to 6, then the Civil List law which allows for the MAMs will be changed and the MAMs will no longer be.

In the press statement earlier this week, Premier-Hon. Dalton Tagelagi was pleased to announce the re-engagement of the Members Assisting the Ministers for the Ministry of Central Agencies and Commercial Agencies, Social Services, Infrastructure and Finance, and Natural Resources.

Premier Tagelagi in the press statement extended on behalf of the Cabinet its appreciation to the MAMs for their dedication and significant contributions to the Ministers.
