A week-long Training of trainers and Foundation of journalism workshop was held in Nadi, Fiji last week.
The training brought together about twenty media practitioners from across the Pacific region.
BCN News Senior Reporter-Esther Pavihi was part of the training said the workshop provided them with the tools to become trainers and to deliver the Foundation for Journalism course in their own country.
“We are always looking for new staff and in Niue, we don’t have many qualified journalists so this course is designed to teach the course to aspiring journalists and also as a refresher course for media practitioners who have been working in this industry, learning on the job but don’t have the formal training.” Pavihi said.
The session was organised and facilitated by the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s International Development unit (ABCID). Participants also received certificates at the end of the training.
