Village Show Days to begin this Month

And our island show days for 2024 will officially begin this month leading with Hikutavake.

The show days are an annual event where villages put on their best food crops grown especially for the day and handcrafts made as well as food and drinks on sale. 

Hikutavake will start the annual calendar of show days this month, followed by the village of Makefu in May and Hakupu in June. Alofi South in July, Lakepa and Tamakautoga in August. Tuapa and Alofi North in September.

There will be three show days in October with Avatele, the National Show Day & Mutalau. Toi and Namukulu in November. Vaiea and Liku in December.

There has been no indication from the government if the village councils will be given additional funds to put on bigger village show days to mark the 50th anniversary of self-government this year.
