COVID-19 UPDATE: 9 active cases while high school return negative test results from school-wide RATs campaign last week

As of yesterday evening at 6pm, the total number of active cases on the island has dropped from 13 to 9. According to the official government Covid-19 website, 4 of the cases have recovered and have been released from isolation.

The results of the Niue high School Covid screening programme last week were released on the school’s Facebook page yesterday, reporting that all the tests returned negative results, despite not all the students completed the tests.

Students were able to return to in-person learning at Niue High School today after remote learning at home was issued to students and staff last week.

Students are asked to wear masks and parents are asked to keep their children at home if they are sick.

Meanwhile, Niue still remains on National Covid-19 Alert Code Yellow as local cases exist on the island but with no community transmission.

The total number of Covid cases the island has detected since March this year is 73 with 64 already recovered.
