Mrs. Ida Hekesi, the new Chairperson of the Public Service Commission

The Office of the Premier and Minister of the Public Service Commission has confirmed the appointment of Mrs Ida Hekesi as the new Chairperson of the Public Service Commission.

Ida Hekesi is a former Director of the Niue Tourism Office and is also the recently appointed chairperson of the BCN Board and has been a member of the Niue Development Bank Board for some time.

Her public service career started with the Niue Tourism Authority in 1996 having relocated to Niue from Australia where she worked in banking and finance.

After retiring from the Niue Tourism Office, Ida and her husband Albert Hekesi started their businesses Stone Villas and Stone Solutions. Ida is a former president of the Niue Chamber of Commerce.

The statement from the Premier’s Office informs that Mrs Ida Hekesi’s appointment as Commissioner and Chairperson of the Public Service Commission will take immediate effect.

Mrs. Victoria Kalauni and Mr. Sionetasi Pulehetoa will remain as Commissioners. Public service commissioners serve three-year terms.
