Avatele 1 wins the Niue Touch Association Mixed Touch Tournament

The Niue Touch Association mixed-teams tournament was held last Saturday with 12 teams registered.

Tuapa T-cups and Avatele 1 topped Pool A after beating Alofi Rebels, Liku, Lakepa and Tamakau Vikings.

In pool B Alofi Makos and Hakupu made it to the semi-finals after beating Mutalau, Tuapa T-pots, Alofi Blues and Avatele 2.

In the semi-finals, Avatele 1 beat Hakupu and Tuapa beat Alofi Makos to play Avatele 1 in the final.

The final between Tuapa T-cups captained by Reuben Siataga and Avatele 1 (pictured photo credit – Hikuleo Lui-Ikiua)captained by Tifaga Tupuiliu was a tough game but at the final whistle, Avatele was up one point 5 to 4.

The whole day event of the mixed competitions started at 8 am in the morning until the prize-giving just before 6 pm.

The next tournament is the mixed masters on Saturday this week. The masters are for women over 27 years old and for men over 30 years old.
