Government rolls out Wage Supplementation package to support private sector

The Government’s Wage Supplementation package to support the private sector started rolling out yesterday. 

This package is a culmination of the work over the past few weeks between the Government and the Chamber of Commerce to ensure those businesses impacted by COVID 19 continue to receive a source of income.  

Last month the Fono Ekepule approved 1 million 850 thousand dollars allocated towards this wage supplementation package.

Businesses were asked to submit their application forms to the Chamber of Commerce which were then forwarded to the Government’s COVID 19 Finance Committee for final determination.

The package ensures that the business owner and their employees will receive a salary every two weeks.
