Niue USP students may not return to Laucala campus for rest of semester

Niue Students currently studying in Laucala but are back in Niue may not be able to return to Suva for the rest of the semester.

According to Niue USP Campus Director Seone Lolesio, the students  will continue to study online.

“What is really needed on campus now is some help from internet providers in Niue, providing  some student internet packages similar to what has been offered by Vodafone & Digicel in Fiji to help out with the students continuing with their studies in Niue.

Currently on campus there are about 73 students, with 9 returning students from Laucala & Emalus campuses.

When USP opens next Monday, the campus is expecting 64 students to use the facility or study from home.   At least 9 of them  from Laucala & Emalus will be on full time.” Said Lolesio

Lolesio says  this requires internet connection on a full-time basis.

The internet connection on campus, according to the Director, is not reliable and assistance is needed from the local internet providers.

The Director says he has written to the CEO Telecom seeking an opportunity.
