Ramsi Edwards has won Gold for Niue at the Oceania Weightlifting Competition held in Auckland, New Zealand last week. She took Gold in the 87 Kg Division.

The official Niue Island Sports & Commonwealth Games Association Facebook page posted that they were always proud of Ramsi’s achievement despite the cock up with the medal first going to Fiji then given back to Niue after clarification was sorted out.

Mom-Carol Edwards in a Facebook post said the finer details were not adhered to and that her daughter was robbed of her moment on the podium.

She said in her post we work hard to encourage and build resilience in our daughters but this is heartbreaking. A moment she will never get back.

However, Edwards is Proud of her daughters’ achievement and for making Niue Proud at the Oceania competition.

She thanks everyone including her family for all their continued support for her daughter’s achievement.
