Vaiea win both competitions of the Bula IMAT Volleyball tournament

Meleta Talaiti led the Vaiea women’s team to the finals of the Bula IMAT volleyball tournament yesterday, beating the Niue High School women’s team. Vaiea in their orange team colours dominated the one-day tournament in both competitions.

In the men’s team Vaiea led byLito Jnr Tealaala was just too good for the Alofi team, taking out the men’s competition.

A total of 25 teams participated at the Bula IMAT Volleyball tournament held at the Paliati grounds organised by the Fijian community.

This is the third year of the Bula Volleyball tournament which was officially opened by the Minister of Sports Hon. Sauni Tongatule.

A total of 25 teams overall competed, nine women’s teams and sixteen men’s teams.

Minister Tongatule acknowledged the Fijian community in organising and funding the tournament, thanking them for the initiative saying that the government encourages these types of tournaments and support such initiatives.
