36 submissions received on the review of the 1974 constitution
A total of 36 public submissions were received in response to the invitation on the review of the Constitution. There were four submissions from overseas and of the 36 submissions received, only two were written in vagahau Niue.
The Constitution review committee of the Fono Ekepule chaired by Hon. O’love Jacobsen held a meeting this morning to go through the submissions. The task to go through the submissions is expected to take some time. BCN understands that the Committee has secured the services of two consultants to help with the work of the Committee.
The submissions were initially due at 4 pm on 30th April but permission was granted by the Chairperson to extend this deadline to allow the members of the public more time to send in their submissions.
