Premier Tagelagi and New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs Nanaia Mahuta met yesterday

Premier Dalton Tagelagi and his Cabinet of ministers held a virtual meeting yesterday with New Zealand Foreign Affairs minister Nanaia Mahuta and Associate minister Aupito William Sio.

According to the Premier, the meeting was an opportunity for him to congratulate the new minister on her appointment after the New Zealand elections last month.

In what is now the new normal, the meeting was held via zoom yesterday morning.

Premier Tagelagi said it was also an opportunity for him to introduce his Cabinet to Foreign Minister Mahuta, saying that there are only four of them and it was an opportune time to hold a short virtual meeting before their cabinet meeting yesterday morning.

Premier Tagelagi said that he is also pleased to have Associate minister Aupito William Sio at the meeting as he is very well known to many Niueans in South Auckland.

The Premier said that they did not discuss anything new aside from what their officials have been in dialogue with through the New Zealand high commission here in Niue and directly with their counterparts in New Zealand.

Premier Tagelagi said that he is very pleased with the outcome of the meeting and that he and Cabinet look forward to continuing dialogue with Minister Mahuta on matters of significance to Niue.
