Tuapa wins the Under 21s mixed touch rugby tournament

The under 21 mixed touch rugby tournament organised by Niue high school’s sports committee in collaboration with Niue Police and the Health department attracted 9 teams representing different villages.

The final game between Tuapa and Avatele went into extra time but it was Tuapa ultimately taking out the coveted title of competition champions with Avatele at second place.

Namukulu played against Hakupu for third and fourth place but the experienced Hakupu team was too strong for Namukulu team made up of young teens ranging in age from 13 to their oldest player 18 year old girl.

The other teams were from the villages of Mutalau, Liku, Tamakautoga, Lakepa and Alofi North.

MVP female players is Alexine Head from Team Lakepa and MVP male is Hine Makaia from Team Avatele.

The team with the best uniform went to Hakupu with Namukulu second.

The glory for the females most tries is shared by Jusal Mokoia of team Namukulu and D’Lexia Funaki of Tamakautoga. Tamakautoga also took out the ‘Most organised team” prize.

Youngest players were Timuga Puheke from Tamakautoga and Zoey Togiavalu from Lakepa.
