The Niue National Awards
The government has established a National Awards list to recognise and honour those who have served Niue with distinction.
There are three different awards;
The Distinguished Cross is awarded to persons who have contributed many years of outstanding service to the people and the nation of Niue.
The Public Service Award is to be awarded to persons who have served and contributed significantly to the Niue Public Service and the nation as a whole
And the third Award is called the Community Star – to be awarded to persons who have served or contributed significantly to the community and the nation as a whole.
The press release from the Premier’s Office says that a National Awards Selection Committee has been established to formalize the criteria and process for the National Awards.
The government is expected to present the first of these awards at the 46th constitution celebrations next month.
