Niue’s travel restrictions extended to August
Niue’s travel restrictions have been extended to the end of August.
The decision was made by Cabinet on 23rd April however was only issued publicly on Friday May 1st.
Passengers permitted on every fortnightly flight from Auckland to Niue for residents and essential personnel only continues until the end of August, 2020.
Residents are those who have lived in Niue not less than 12 months or those who have lived in Niue continuously for 6 months or more in the last 12 months.
Where technical or skilled persons are required then they can travel to Niue with written authorization from the government of Niue.
All persons who enter Niue will be required to undergo 14 days quarantine.
The extension of weekly flights to Niue from Auckland is to continue until further notice as per travel advisory number 4 which expired on Thursday April 30th.
Meanwhile, seven passengers will be arriving in today’s flight while 14 passengers will be departing the country.
They will be transported to designated quarantine accommodations and will stay in quarantine for the mandatory 14 days.
The seventeen passengers from the previous flight completed their quarantine on Sunday May 3rd.
Investigations continue into the case of the person who breached quarantine. Police are expected to lay charges once investigations are completed.
