Doreen Siataga is officially the new Finance Secretary

Doreen Siataga is officially the new Finance Secretary after signing her contract with the Niue Public Service Commission.

The announcement was made by the Public Service Commission Chairperson Victoria Kalauni last Thursday. The official circular stated that Mrs Siataga actually started her duties as Financial Secretary on the 3rd of February. 

BCN News understands from Mrs Siataga that it’s been a very busy few months since taking on the role. As the Head of the Department of Finance and Planning she and her team at Treasury are responsible for putting together the government’s budget. She said that they have now received all the submissions from the government departments and will begin the process of compiling the draft budget estimates in a week or two. 

Doreen Siataga’s most recent role with Treasury as the Chief accountant for the Government. Mrs Siataga is a USP graduate and has worked for Treasury for more than 10 years.

She takes over from the former Financial Secretary Poitogia Kapaga who has moved onto another role with the State owned NPNC.
