WHO Regional Director for Western Pacific Visits Niue
Doctor Piukala thanked the Tongan Community for the warm hospitality shown to him and his team.

The newly appointed World Health Organization Regional Director for the Western Pacific –Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala arrived last Friday to Niue.
Dr Piukala met with the Acting Premier of Niue-Hon. Esa Mona Ainuu and the Minister of Social Services-Sonya Talagi. He was later hosted to a dinner by the Minister of Social Services with the Health Director and her staff at Maniuz.
On Saturday he visited the Hydroponic and Vanilla Farm and was later hosted to a dinner by the Hakupu Council of Women Village.
Yesterday he attended a church service at the Methodist Church in Alofi followed by lunch organized by the Tongan Community.
Tonga Community President-Sitani Vea said they wanted to show their appreciation to a fellow Tongan appointed to the WHO and the opportunity meet while here.

This morning, Dr Piukala will be handing over an Oxygen Plant as well as taking a tour of the Niue Foou Hospital and meeting with the Health Director and the leadership team.
He will also have a sit down interview with BCN today before departing the island. He is the first Tongan and the first Pacific islander to take up this role.
