Golf Tournament currently underway

A 23 member team from the Raro Golf Club arrived on the island last Saturday on the first chartered flight to Niue for the year.
Event organizer and Niue Golf Captain-Hagen Siosikefu says most of the Raro team are golf veterans with a few part Niueans. The club is touring the rock and will be competing against the Niue Team.

“So last year we had a group from Niue who had gone to the Cook’s to play golf there so this is a return trip for them and there was a trophy as well that was put up for the two nations to play for,” he said.
The 3 days tournament will involve 3 different formats including a mixed team and include lawn bowls as well.
Siosikefu hopes this showcased event will lead to a regular flight between Niue and Cook Islands, however this will be for the government to decide as they can only promote Niue as a viable option.
The Raro Golf club returns to the Cook Islands this Thursday.
