Niue makes a comeback with 16-14 win over Fiji after tough loss against Tonga Development at Pasifika Youth Cup

The Under-18 Pasifika Youth Cup rugby league tournament kicked off yesterday morning at the Blockhouse Bay Reserve in Auckland. For team Niue, the boys first match was against the Tonga development squad. 

A tough close game ended with the Tonga development team as the victors with 14 points to 10 for Niue. 

For their second match earlier today, Niue went up against Fiji and came out as the winning champions. 

Another tough match with 16 points for Niue to 14 points for Fiji. 

“Niue wins on the hooter. Great game in very wet weather, credit to Fiji for bringing it today,” according to Auckland Niue Rugby League Inc’s recent Facebook post. 

Tomorrow Niue will face off Tokelau for their third and final match of the tournament before the finals on Sunday 29th January. 

Niue needs to win at least two out of their three matches to make it into the finals on Sunday.
