UPDATED: Mamas in mumus celebrate with the Federation of Christian Women (FCW)
The theme of the day was colourful mumu and foufous (floral headpiece) as the members and invited guests celebrated with the Federation of Christian Women (FCW) at the Millennium Hall on Friday last week.
The FCW is the charity arm of the Ekalesia Kerisiano Niue and the organisation is the largest in terms of women membership of any group on the island.
President Rev. Diamond Tauevihi encouraged the women to embrace new members into the organisation. She thanked all the members and invited guests who were there to celebrate the momentous occasion.
It was also fitting that the organisers recognised the elders of the group for their long service to the organisation.
The President of the National Council of Women Mrs Nogimoka Poumale presented gifts to these women to mark the occasion.
Mrs Nesa Vakanofiti from Avatele FCW said that she first became a member of the FCW in 1961 two years after getting married. She said that most of the work they did back in those days are still the same as what they are doing now. They raise funds to ensure their organisation can meet the needs of the women and families in the village especially when the women face hardship such as an illness, then the FCW will be there to help.
The ladies put on a feast and finished off the day with koli fiafia (dancing) to end the day.
