Niue flag will be the only flag raised during 45th Constitution celebrations

The Niue flag will be the only flag to be raised during the flag raising ceremony on Saturday while the Niue anthem will be the only national anthem sung at the event.

This has been confirmed by the Premier Sir Toke Talagi.

The break from the traditional raising of both the Niue and New Zealand flags began last year. According to the Premier, this will continue at the flag raising on Saturday October 19th, where only the Niue flag will be raised. 

China’s Ambassador to New Zealand Wu Xi will be bringing with her the Chinese national symphony of 11 musicians as part of the Chinese delegation to mark Niue’s 45th constitution celebrations. 

Also arriving will be the United States Deputy Chief of Mission Kevin Covert will be attending with one official 

The Australian government will be represented by the First Secretary Ms Kirsty Michel. 

New Zealand is also expected to send officials from Wellington to join the NZ High Commission at the Celebrations this year.
