First medivac flight of the year includes locum radiographer to Niue
A medivac flight was called in on Monday this week to transport a critically ill patient to Auckland. The flight departed after 12 midday taking the patient and an accompanying family member.
The Acting Director of Health Peter Fetaui told BCN News that they received confirmation yesterday morning that the patient arrived safely and is in hospital.
The air ambulance also brought in the locum radiographer to work at the hospital for the next 6 weeks.
There is another radiographer on the island but they have departed the island today. Given the unpredictable situation with commercial flights from Auckland, the health department was happy to be able to get their locum to fly up on the air ambulance on Monday.
The medivac flight is the first for this year.
