Minister of Health call for people to vaccinate come first week of June
The Minister of Health Hon. Sauni Togatule last Saturday started the call to the people on the island to take part during the vaccination program which is planned for the first week of June.
Minister Togatule told the gathering that he and the officials from the Health department will be promoting the COVID 19 vaccination program leading up to the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine on the island.
However, some front-line staff say that they need more information first about the vaccine.
For this article, BCN reporter spoke to five frontline staff who work at the airport, three of them said that they need more information while two said yes, they will take the vaccine come first week of June.
Of the three needing more information, one said that even though she would like more information, she is also aware of her responsibility in her role to protect herself and her family.
It’s understood that the officials of both countries are still working on logistics of the roll out and information for public awareness. Over the weekend, TV Niue broadcast a podcast produced by the Health department about the vaccine.
The minister said that he expects everyone on the island to ensure they are vaccinated and to ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity to protect our island.
Everyone on the island 16 years and older are eligible to be vaccinated.
