Hon. John Tofo Funaki (NPSM) awarded the Niue Public Service Medal
Former Speaker Hon. John Tofo Funaki (NPSM) was awarded the Niue Public Service Medal for his more than 36 years of dedication and commitment to serving the government and the people of Niue.
His career in the public service stared in 1953 in the New Zealand Resident Commissioners Office and worked in various government departments from Education, Health, Justice and Treasury.
In 1975 he was appointed a Public Defender a role he held for 10 years.
He was appointed the Secretary to Justice in 1985 and Land titling Manager in 1989 until he left the public service in 1990.
In 1991 he was appointed a Land Commissioner of the Niue High Court Land division.
In 1996 he was elected by the Members of the Fono Ekepule as Speaker of the 9th Niue Legislative Assembly.
Hon. John Tofo Funaki(NPSM) was yesterday recognised for his distinguished services to the government and the people of Niue.
