Niue’s Rugby 15s participates in Oceania Rugby Cup tournament
Niue’s Rugby 15s headed off to Papua New Guinea from Brisbane on Monday to take part in the Oceania Rugby Cup.
The one week tournament will have Niue compete against 3 other countries – Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Nauru.
Niue’s team is made up of players from both Niue and abroad, the majority from Brisbane and the wider Queensland. The team management also includes Niue based representative Norman Mitimeti.
Niue’s first match is this coming Friday against Solomon Islands at 1pm. Their next opponent in round 2 are hosts Papua New Guinea. They play off on the Tuesday 27th August from 3.30pm. In the third and final round Niue will play Nauru on 31st August from 1pm. All matches are in PNG time.
