Hive of Taoga festival activities in Niue
A hive of activities are underway across the island as the 6th Taoga Niue and Arts Culture 209 festival kicked off on Easter Friday.
The festival was officially opened by the Minister for Social Services and Taoga Niue Honorable Billy Talagi t the commercial center who highlighted the significance of preserving the Vagahau Niue, adding the festival is an integral part of Taoga Niue.
He also encouraged the visiting artists to perfect their craft and to bring their talent back home.
Honorable Billy Talagi also acknowledged the patrons Sir Toke Talagi and Dr Collin Tukitonga.
The 6th Taoga Festival 2019 opened with an inspiring performance by Tukuola Group and sweet melodies from Tamatoa’s Tafiti Savages
The Festival is showcasing Niuean Traditional and Contemporary activities including music, dance, theatre, art, song-writing, sculpture, textiles including wearable arts, printing, film, writing, carving, and weaving.
The festival will end with a closing ceremony on Thursday 25th April.
