COP29 begins this week in Azerbaijan

And the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference or commonly known as COP29 has kicked off this week in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Minister for Natural Resources-Hon. Mona Ainu’u was invited to speak on an esteemed panel at the Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion discussing Restoring Island Resilience through Managing Invasive Species in Niue.
Following this, Hin Ainu’u was invited to speak at the Climate Mobility Pavilion for “Youth Lead the Way” in Building Resilience and Sustaining a Dream.
She highlighted the importance of recognizing and valuing the role of our oceans and shared Niue’s ongoing ocean conservation efforts as part of our contribution to global environmental sustainability.
Delegates from nearly 200 countries will gather for the United Nations annual international summit on addressing the threat of climate change from November 11-22, 2024.
