The Government of Niue last week launched three key documents strengthening Niue’s ability to gain support to fight climate Change.

According to the Niue Government Release, the documents are Niue’s Strategic Framework and Country Programme Niue’s Readiness Needs Assessment as well as Niue’s Standard Operating Procedure that was Authored by the Greenwerk Team.

The documents were launched during the Pacific Regional Readiness Cohort Workshop at Matavai Resort.

Niue’s Deputy Secretary to Government-Gaylene Tasmania said the documents is a culmination of contributions from different stakeholders, donor and development partners – and voices from the community

Niue is the world’s 177th largest emitter with a total share of zero greenhouse gas emissions, yet like all Pacific Islands nations, Niue is amongst the most vulnerable in the world to the impacts of climate Change.

Rising sea level poses a massive threat to Niue’s underground freshwater supplies.

The Pacific Regional Readiness Cohort Workshop had representatives from across eight Pacific countries including the Maldives.
