Airport Car Park to be Completed by this month
About 6 workers are currently working on the site at the moment and work is expected to be completed at the end of March.
Downer Project Manager-Craig Smart has given another update regarding the current work underway at the Hanan International Airport Car Park area. The main parking field at the airport is currently undergoing heavy construction.
Smart says this year is a big year for Niue, it’s the 50th year for the Constitution and many visitors will be arriving so this is the final part of the airport upgrade.
“We are doing the work in four sections, and we have started on the first section one at the moment so people won’t be able to park there on the next plane day but we expect by the plan day after they can park on the surface area,” he said.
Smart has also advised the members of the public to be cautious especially on areas cordoned off by cones, signs or tapes if people can respect this areas by staying out of it.
“And finally if people are coming to the airport with children just to make sure they don’t go in that area and play and muck around,” Smart said.
He said they are aware that people need access to the airport and they will work towards minimizing disruptions so people have the maximum parking closest to the airport terminal, however there will be some interruptions.
