Pre-meetings begin in Niue ahead of Forum Fisheries Committee officials meeting
The Forum Fisheries Committee will host two principal meetings in Niue this year, beginning with the Officials Meeting this week, followed by the Ministerial Meeting in July

Niue will host the Forum Fisheries Committee (FFC) Annual Officials 138th Meeting from May 9-15.
A Pre-FFC meeting began at the Millennium hall yesterday before the main opening ceremony is scheduled for this Friday. Natural Resources Minister-Hon. Mona Ainu’u will host a welcoming function at the Matavai Resort later in the evening.
According to the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) official Facebook page, the FFC is the governing body of FFA consisting of the FFC Officials meeting and the FFC Ministerial meeting.
The FFC Officials is made up of senior fisheries officials from the 17 Members of FFA, agree on FFA’s priorities, annual reporting and budgeting.
In a media statement, the Government of Niue is honored to host the forum, with Niue hosting for the second time the last meeting was in 2009.
Niue will take on the role as the Chair of the FFC from Nauru with New Zealand as the Vice Chair. The official handover will take place during the Officials Meeting on Friday, with the Ministerial Chair to be formally transferred to Minister Ainu’u in July.

The Forum Fisheries Committee will be hosting two principal meetings in Niue this year, beginning with the Officials Meeting this week, followed by the Ministerial Meeting in July.
The meetings will play a critical role in coordinating regional fisheries policy and advancing collaborative approaches to the sustainable management of Pacific tuna resources.
About 80 delegates from across the Pacific region will be part of the annual officials meeting that begins this Friday.
