NZ Transnational Crime Unit conduct workshop in Niue

The training is facilitated by the NZ transnational Crime Unit and its the first time they are delivering the foundation intelligence workshop here in Niue.

For the first time, a 2 member team from the New Zealand Transnational Crime Unit (NZTCU) were in Niue this week to conduct A Foundational intelligence workshop. 

The two day workshop focused on developing capacity and up-skilling for the Niue Transnational Crime Unit or TCU and their partner agencies was held this week at NDMO.

Session includes learning the intelligence cycle with group discussions and  presentations as well as scenario activities. The NZTCU and Niue TCU are part of the 21-country strong Pacific Transnational Crime Network. 

“The training is facilitated by the NZ transnational Crime network and its the first time we delivering the foundation intelligence workshop here in Niue. We will deliver the basics intelligence cycle as they have been doing it in their day to day work, but we are trying to formalize this better and providing the tools for them in order to do this to make Niue safer.” she said.

The Niue TCU is a portfolio within the Niue Police that consists of representatives from the Niue Immigration, Niue Customs and Niue Biosecurity and DAFF.

Members of the Pacific Transnational Crime Network collaborate to monitor and disrupt transnational crime in the Pacific region. NZTCU works closely with Niue TCU to assist and support its members.

The NZTCU team coordinated their travels alongside NZ Immigration as part of a collaboration to support Niue.
