Niue Arts Festival opening draws crowd
Invited guests, locals and tourists showed up in numbers to celebrate Niue’s unique works of talent in the arts space.

It was a full house as people turned up to the official opening of the Niue Arts Festival 2025 in their colorful attires at the old Fale Fono Foyer on Tuesday night.

In his address at the opening of the Niue Arts Festival, Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi welcomed everyone young and old to the 3 days festival, kick starting a lineup of events for the week.

Social Services Minister-Hon. Sonya Talagi said it was a celebration of our unique talents as Niueans.
Beautiful works of art lined the foyer as people admired artwork from artists like John Pule as well as students. Also present was new resident artist-Katrina Iosia and Creative NZ representative Ali Foa’i.
The Fitimotu Band made up of Niue Primary School students serenaded the crowd with their Ukulele skills and songs. Music teacher Jackson Hekesi could not be more proud of his students.

Three ukuleles were also auctioned with proceeds going to the Niue Primary School musical program.
Prizes were also given out to students who were part of the Ukulele workshop and Artwork in the open age, youth and People’s Choice Award category.
