Tonga earthquake felt in Niue yesterday morning
There were no reports of casualties or damage caused in the Kingdom of Tonga as a result of this earthquake

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 occurred in the Tonga islands around 1.19am yesterday morning (Monday -Tonga time).
Tremors were also felt in Niue as people took to social media regarding their early morning Sunday experience yesterday.
According to the Niue Met Service, there was no tsunami threat for Niue regarding this.
The US Geological Survey said the quake hit 79 kilometers southeast of the village of Pangai in Haapai. Tsunami siren was activated and warnings were issued, calling for people to move to higher ground.
The tsunami warnings were also extended to Niue, however it was later canceled.
There were no reports of casualties or damage caused in the Kingdom of Tonga as a result of this earthquake.
