The Niue Rugby League-Toa Motu 2025 season will kick off this coming Saturday with new team Mutalau entering the competition.
Niue Rugby League President-Dave Ulukita has confirmed there are five teams entering this year’s 9s Village competition with Mutalau being the new addition alongside Avatele,Tuapa,Hakupu and Alofi
Ulukita said newbies Mutalau will take on heavyweights Avatele at the opening match this Saturday.
On Monday, NZ Referees Association member- Karl Vasau held an online Zoom session from Auckland for a refresher course for the referees, coaches and players on the rules for the 9s.
“It was very beneficial to hear first hand from a Certified Referee like Karl who is also of Niue descent
An opportunity for Referees and Coaches to ask questions leading up to the tournament.” he said
Games will kick off at the Tuatea Grounds in Hakupu at 9am, everyone is encouraged to come and support the teams.
