Weather outlook for the island

A strong wind advisory was issued by the Niue Met Office yesterday with two low pressure systems within the vicinity of the island.

Because of these low pressure systems strong winds are expected over the coming days. 

For today, a trough of low pressure lies to the north of Niue and is expected to gradually drift south and affect the island.

Forecast to midnight tonight for Niue:Fresh to strong east to northwest winds 35 to 45km/hr gusting up to 55km/hr at times.Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, heavy at times and  few isolated thunderstorms.

Further outlook: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few isolated thunderstorms.
