Huge 312.2kg blue marlin caught off the Alofi coast this morning

Atoa Talagi said it took him nearly an hour to reel in the giant fish from the Aliutu FAD in Alofi this morning. He told BCN News that he couldn’t lift it on to the boat so he dragged it a short distance to the Sir Robert’s wharf and used the crane to lift it out of the water.

The 312.2kg blue marlin was gifted to a local family for their up-coming hair cutting ceremony later in the year.

The young fisherman was happy about his catch, and so was his family including his father and his young sons who will no doubt continue the family tradition, in a strong lineage of fishermen.
