BCN building renovations well underway

The project is expected to be completed in May of this year

Renovation work is now underway for the BCN building located in Fonuakula. Materials for the building were shipped in last month.

Local contractors, Roughan Constructions is carrying out the renovations that is employing 6 locals and 3 contractors from New Zealand.

Project Team leader-Josh Roughan said the project is well underway and they hope there is good weather throughout the construction work.

The Government of Australia is funding the project at a cost of $2 million Australian dollars , this was increased since the media release last year when Honorable  Pat Conroy, Minister of International Development and the Pacific announced the initial funding of $1million dollars. 

The project is expected to be completed in May of this year, 5 years after the fire in May 2020 that destroyed all the studios. 

The BCN staff are currently housed at the Niue Met Service building near the Airport while the Radio studio is temporarily housed at the NDMO building.
