America has voted for their new President Republican candidate Donald Trump in a historic win.
He is the second president in history to be re-elected after one gap term and the first convicted criminal to win an election.
On Tuesday, millions across the United States headed to the polls in what’s been touted as one of the most divisive presidential campaigns in history.
Polls leading up to the election indicated a very close race between Trump and Democrat candidate Vice President Kamala Harris. In the final days, both major contenders focused their campaigns on the seven key battleground states aiming to win over undecided voters. But it was a clean sweep on election night with Trump flipping 7 swing states including the largest battleground state of Pennsylvania.
55-year-old Nurse Angela Siaki Winter who hails from the village of Avatele has lived in the USA for 37 years. She spoke to BCN News post election from her home state of California where she voted.
The Republican Party has also won control of the Senate and Congress.
