Teachers on the island celebrated Teachers Day last Friday at the Niue High School hall with this years theme “Valuing Teachers voice towards a new social contract for Education.”
Director of Education-Natasha Tohovaka said teaching is the most rewarding and demanding profession that requires the collective support of everyone.
New Zealand High Commissioner to Niue-Mark Gibb while speaking at the event said education is the foundation of where Niue is today.
The day’s activities ended with a large feast for the teachers and their families and friends hosted by the village of Tuapa.
