King Charles III sends video message of well wishes to Niue

His Majesty King Charles III sent in a Constitution Day message to the people of Niue via a two minute video that was broadcasted during the 50th Anniversary celebration last Saturday.

“I very much hope that all Niueans can take particular pride n the remarkable achievement and development of your beloved nation.” his majesty said.

He also mentioned the pressing challenges especially pose by climate change.

Even though he has not visited our island nation, he reflected on the vibrant Niuean culture and warm hospitality he and his wife Queen Camilla experienced during their visit to Auckland in 2019.

His majesty also highlighted on meeting Prime Minister-Hon. Dalton Tagelagi during COP28 in Dubai last year.

“Looking ahead to the next 50 years, I am confident that Niue will continue to innovate, striving for sustainable development and strengthening your relationship across the Pacific.” he said.

King Charles was saddened that he couldn’t attend the special occasion, his majesty wanted everyone on the island to know that his thoughts and that of the royal family was with all the Niuean people on this important day.

He ended his address by saying best of luck in Niuean in which the crowd reacted in cheers and applause.

King Charles is sovereign in 14 Commonwealth realms in addition to the UK and is also the head of the Commonwealth itself, a voluntary association of 56 independent countries.
