It’s important to always tell our stories says veteran Tongan Journalist

Pre-summit workshops were held as a lead up to the 7th Pacific Media Summit that was held last week on the island.

One of the sessions was on Press Freedom, Code of Conduct, Data Mining and Open Source Investigation facilitated by the UN Anti-Corruption Consultant held at the Public Service Building Conference room.  

BCN News had an opportunity to speak with Veteran Tongan Journalist Kalafi Moala who started the first independent newspaper in Tonga. He spoke on some key areas of learning from the session.

Moala looked forward to more discussion during the summit especially on the freedom of the Press and the importance of telling our stories.

Other pre-summit Workshop included Women in Media facilitated by FemLink Pacific.

Strengthening National Media Associations facilitated by Acting CEO of the Fiji Sun Rosi Doviverata and Neville Choi President of the Media Council PNG.

Also Reporting on Public Finance Management was facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme and Emerging Environment and Climate Trends in the Pacific facilitated by Internews.
