Workshop an opportunity to learn more on working with the media

A Women Leadership in Meteorology and Hydrology Workshop was held earlier this week in Port Villa, Vanuatu.
According to the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) official Facebook Post the meeting brings together Directors and officials of Meteorology, Hydrology and Disaster Management from across the region for two Media Mana Class.
The session was an opportunity to interact and learn more about working with the media.
Director of Niue Met Service Rossy Mitiepo was part of the secession alongside one of her MET staff as well as two staff from the Department of Utilities.
Mitiepo said they learnt a lot in terms of tips from various media platforms such as TV radio, print media, media releases and social media.
She shared her experiences about Niue in regards to how their relationship with BCN News has improved due to the close relationship they have.
She is thankful that BCN News coverage about weather events and workshops have raised their profile and ensures climate resilience and preparedness information is shared across to the Niue people.
The training was facilitated by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, the World Meteorological Organisation and the Climate Resilience Early Warning Systems initiative.
The training is a build-up to the Seventh Pacific Meteorological Council Meeting that will be held next week.
