Premier shares on Niue’s Marine Conservation Approach

He emphasized the importance of community-led projects and international partnerships for a sustainable future.

Niue Premier – Hon. Dalton Tagelagi showcased Niue’s innovative approach to marine conservation during an Ocean Education session at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for Pacific Islands Nations Weeks for Oceans Day in Tokyo.

The Premier also met with the President of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation- Dr. At-sushi Sunami.

Tagelagi highlighted a notable home-grown initiative: the Niue Ocean Wide Trust’s (NOW) and the Uga conservation. 

He emphasized the importance of community-led projects and international partnerships for a sustainable future.

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) was established in 1986, has worked since its inception to advance international exchange and cooperation.

One of their mission statement is to make use of of their freedom as a private foundation to effectively promote activities, proposals, and exchanges in the search for a new governance model for human society.
