Niue Powerlifting President-Tony Edwards in a recent interview with BCN via Zoom from New Zealand shared on upcoming projects regarding the sports on the island.
Edwards says it’s always their hope to try and promote the sport first in Niue and its their intention to try and promote the sport and they look forward to hosting local competitions in Niue to try and develop that.
“Once the people get a grasp of what Powerlifiting is all about, to actually try get the sport motivated and get people to actually participate in the tournament. Those are the kinds of things we are looking at that moment , how visible we can host local competitions and it is our hope we can draw in the interest and attract that to our locals back home” he said
He also shared on challenges still faced by the Niue Powerlifting Federation
Edwards who was recently appointed as part of the Executive Committee to the International PowerLifting Federation Board as the Oceania Regional PowerLifting Representative.
