New Zealand has pledged to invest almost $21million into new renewable energy project
This was announced by NZ Prime Minister- Hon Christopher Luxon at a joint Press conference with the Niue Premier-Dalton Tagelagi held at the Fale Fono II last week Tuesday.
As Niue prepares to mark its 50 years of self-government with New Zealand, both counties have agreed to enhance the special relationship that exists between them.
Niue Premier Dalton Tagelagi said these are exciting times and this can all be achieved if we work together.
Hon. Luxon in his address was grateful for the warm welcome shown by the local people.
New Zealand has also committed $2 million to the Niue Ocean Wide Trust (NOW), which is a public-private partnership aimed at developing a resilient blue economy to ensure long term ocean conservation and management.
Funding for these initiatives comes from New Zealand’s International Development Cooperation programme.
