The Scenic Eclipse II docked outside of the Sir Roberts Wharf was a hype of activities as passengers disembarked to tour the island and were also greeted with a warm welcome and live entertainment at the commercial center.
Tourists Elaine and Ken Davy, all the way from Yorkshire, England said they were looking forward to touring the island and enjoyed the warm welcome and entertainment on the rock.
For crew members Richard Godwin from the United Kingdom and Eric Hamandishe of Zimbabwe, both are in Niue for the very first time.
Both love their job working on board the cruise liner especially when it comes to meeting new people and traveling to new countries.
Niue Tourism Advisor-Hayden Porter says it was a fantastic and executed plan when the cruise liner arrived on the island with local operators making a profit within four hours.
“A big big focus was making sure that when these people arrive that they are spending money here, historically people have come offshore they have wandered around but haven’t spent any money,” he said.
Porter says every person that came ashore had pre-booked tours committed to a minimum amount to spend and they paid that in advance and we had all of our local operators be involved so it was a win win.
The cruise liner departed Niue on Saturday afternoon headed to Tonga.
