It was a historic win for our Under-18 (U18) Auckland Niue Rugby League Girls Team over the weekend winning against Tonga,10-4.
According to their Auckland Niue Rugby League Inc Facebook page, it was a hard fought game from start to finish.
The Niue girls squad came third overall in the Pasifika Youth Cup Under 18 Girls Division.
Their first win was last Saturday against Cook Islands, 32-12 which qualified them to play for third and fourth placing.
Meanwhile, the U18 Niue boys team played their final game against Tokelau and went down 24-28.
Parents, families and friends supported the players of the Niue squad which included three boys from the homeland including Sipito Hetutu from Avatele, Aaron Tukutama from Tamakautoga and Austin Talagi from Avatele and Tamakautoga.
The Pasifika Youth Cup 2024 kicked off last week Wednesday 24th January and ended yesterday Sunday 28th January, New Zealand time.
The tournament was held at the Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe where seven Pasifika nations competed during the games.
